About Little Owl Herbalism
Stephanie Vazquez Adames is the Clinical Herbalist behind Little Owl Herbalism. Her interest in holistic health and botanical medicine has its roots in childhood and began to grow throughout her teenage years, when she witnessed her mother go through a life-threatening health challenge. During these formative years, she addressed many of her own menstrual irregularities with the knowledge she had gathered as an autodidact in the use of herbs and food as medicine.
Stephanie has always held a true love of knowledge, and continues to be a life-long learner, thus, for many years, she pursued a career in academic education. After embarking on her own holistic health journey at a very young age, she began studying the healing power of the body on her own, diving deep into natural hygiene, nutrition, fasting, mind-body practices, and herbalism. She went on to complete an intensive internship in Costa Rica, where she monitored patients and observed the innate healing ability of the human body at a small fasting facility in Rio Chirripo, while expanding her education in nutrition, anatomy and physiology.
She later completed 3 years of formal and extensive training in Traditional Herbal Medicine from the ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism. Her education included an intensive clinical work component, as well as varied coursework in Traditional Western Herbalism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Vitalism, therapeutic nutrition, anatomy and physiology, botany, and herbal formulation and compounding for medicinal use.
Stephanie works one-on-one with both English and Spanish-speaking clients to identify their health goals, gain a clear understanding of them as individuals within the context of their own lives, and to guide them towards sustainable and practical changes that will help them achieve the outcomes they desire. By treating the whole person—not merely their symptoms—she helps tackle the root of long-standing health imbalances by bringing the whole being back into balance. Stephanie employs medicinal botanicals and nutritional supplements where indicated, as well as practical and effective lifestyle strategies. She provides extensive health education and compassionate guidance tailored to the individual needs of each client, while supporting changes that will positively impact their health and life overall.
Stephanie has worked with past clients to address stress and anxiety, menstrual irregularities, musculoskeletal complaints, cancer prevention and treatment, recovery from surgery, urinary tract infections, digestive disorders, and more.
Through Little Owl Herbalism, Stephanie also offers private educational courses in her specialties: Fertility Awareness and Preparation for Pregnancy. She also offers education in these areas as group workshops, along with herbal medicine-making workshops, and presentations on other health and/or botanical topics of interest.
Philosophy
As an educator for over 15 years, Stephanie’s primary goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for clients, where they can be empowered with the necessary knowledge and practices to bring their own bodies back into balance.
She believes that when addressing any and all ailments, the individual as a whole being must be taken into account. Thus, Stephanie focuses her efforts on helping clients bring about harmony between body, mind, & soul in order to provide the re-balancing and relief that will bring about the body’s own ability to heal. She seeks to inspire hope, comfort, and faith and to empower clients with the tools that will enable them to do just this.
